Wilson Rush Pro 4.5

Plush, airy and grippy, and cheap on clearance. Just don't expect the outsole to last like a Gel-Resolution.

Round-up review: our score and verdict are based on published specs and reviews from across the web, not our own play-testing yet.

Wilson’s Rush Pro 4.5 is the 2024 update to the best-selling Rush Pro 4.0: a comfort-first stability shoe for club players who want a plush, breathable ride. It is for players who value comfort over outright durability and don’t need a featherweight speed shoe.

Fit and feel

Tennis Warehouse’s testers gave it 8.2 out of 10 with comfort and ventilation both at 8.6. The engineered mesh upper uses larger holes at the front and a tighter weave at the heel, and the Endofit inner sock makes the shoe feel like a sleeve. Tennis Warehouse tester Mark put the midsole comfort at “almost a 10 out of 10”. Tennisnerd found the cushioning held up even for a heavy player and weighed the shoe at 413 g in a US 10.5. Fit runs true to length and medium to slightly wide with a slightly low arch; Troy wanted more padding under the forefoot.

Cushioning and stability

Support scored 7.9. The 4D Support Chassis 2.0 and a torsion-resisting shank keep the foot from spilling over the midsole on hard lateral stops, and the low-to-the-court ride gave Troy confidence changing direction. It is more flexible than a Gel-Resolution 9 and not as planted. Traction scored 8.5: grippy out of the box, then settling into a controlled slide once the top layer of rubber wears in.

Durability

This is the weak spot, scored 6.6. Chris wore through the outsole and into the midsole in under 15 hours; Troy found it settled after an initial wear period but still fell short of the Gel-Resolution 9 and Barricade 13. Uppers and toe bumpers held up well, with only light scuffing, and Munish’s mesh showed no rips at all.

Key specs

  • Weight 413 g (US 10.5)
  • Fit True to length, medium
  • Arch Slightly low
  • Upper Engineered mesh, Endofit
  • Outsole Duralast rubber
  • Court versions All court, clay

Verdict

A comfortable, well-ventilated shoe at a sale price that makes the outsole wear easier to forgive. Hard-court grinders who drag their feet should buy a Gel-Resolution 9 instead.
