Round-up review: our score and verdict are based on published specs and reviews from across the web, not our own play-testing yet.
Head Tour XT is the premium sibling of the standard Head Tour, built for players who want a heavier, slower, controllable ball in fast conditions. It suits anyone who hates a ball changing character mid-session, and hard hitters on hot days.
Why it exists
Head’s Johannes Ager told Tennisnerd the standard Tour ball was always rated lively and fast, at its best on slower courts in moderate temperatures. The XT spent nearly two years in development with a new core compound designed to lose a little more energy on impact, giving a softer ball-pocket feel and more control when heat and quick courts speed the game up. It debuted as the official ball of the Rio Open.
On court
Tennisnerd’s reviewer calls it one of his go-to balls and pairs it with Dunlop Fort All Court as the two that stay remarkably consistent through a session. Heavier and slower than a Babolat, it feels soft and ready to play the moment the can opens. Tennis Infinity places Head Tour far above the brand’s Team and Radical cans, a proper tournament ball, though the felt fluffs noticeably in the rain.
How long it lasts
The trade-off is lifespan. Tennisnerd’s observation is that balls arriving soft and playable from the can, the Tour XT among them, tend to be finished sooner than a ball that starts firm and softens. Buy it for feel and consistency, not for a fourth outing.

Verdict
The pick here for control and a soft, even feel, especially in summer. It won’t outlast a firmer ball, so budget for fresh cans more often.
