The current Boom MP adds a new material to the shaft and an updated string pattern for 2026, sitting as Head’s highest power level in its tennis range. It suits intermediate players and doubles specialists wanting easy, effortless power and spin without needing precise technique, and it’s the friendlier alternative to the Boom Pro.
How it plays
Depth and spin come with minimal effort, making this a genuine pick-up-and-play frame. It’s lighter and more manoeuvrable than most other Head 100 square inch frames, which suits faster swings and doubles net play particularly well. The Auxetic-based construction keeps the feel comfortable and arm-friendly throughout.
What reviewers agree and disagree on
The consensus is positive but measured, a good update rather than a dramatic one. Some reviewers note it can feel light and lacking in plough-through for stronger players, who sometimes add lead tape to compensate, and it can feel launchy if overhit. It’s also clearly less control-oriented than the Boom Pro or Head’s dedicated control frames, which is by design rather than a flaw.
