Babolat RPM Blast is the black octagonal co-polyester Rafael Nadal made famous, built to bite the ball and snap back for heavy topspin. It suits fit, technically sound baseliners on modern open-pattern frames who want spin without giving up control. Beginners and arm-sensitive players should pass.
On court
Spin comes first. Tennisnerd found the ball “jumping off the string bed with tons of topspin” in a Pure Aero, and rates its spin above Solinco Hyper-G. Perfect Tennis said the string felt like it was grabbing the ball with claws, turning a sliced second serve into something that landed in the box time and again. Add spin to a flat stroke and Perfect Tennis likens it to driving the ball with a remote control.
Control is strong rather than surgical. Tennisnerd puts directional precision a notch below Luxilon 4G or Solinco Confidential. Feel is firm and muted, all the feedback concentrated at impact with little harsh vibration afterwards. Perfect Tennis calls it “not a comfortable string in absolute terms” and warns against pairing it with light frames under 300 g.
Power and stamina
There is no free power. Every ball needs full physical and technical commitment, and Perfect Tennis notes that when fitness dips, the fun goes with it. Volleys need a firm wrist to add punch.
Tension hold is average. Tennisnerd logs 10 to 15 hours before the snapback dulls and the bed turns unpredictable. Perfect Tennis saw only light notching after 8 to 10 hours and called durability “perfectly fine” at club level.
